CE Marking as “trade passport” to the European market

CE Marking as “trade passport” to the European market

The CE marking indicates the conformity of the product with the Union legislation applying to the product. This allows the product to freely circulate throughout the European Economic Area. Not all products sold in the EU need to carry a CE marking. CE marking applies to products, ranging from electrical equipment to toys and from civil explosives to medical devices. Such products fall under one or more directives which determine the specific requirements that the product must comply with in order to bear a CE Marking.

Our customers can be sure that Navco has already investigated everything that is related to compliance and product safety. Dealing with CE marking represents a serious challenge, and Navco already has this experience, so just leave this to us!

Regions & Obligations

Regions

The CE marking is affixed on products that will be placed on the market in the 28 member states of the EU but also Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey. It does not matter where the products are manufactured.

Obligations

The CE marking is affixed by the manufacturer. The manufacturer, whether established inside or outside the EU, is the entity ultimately responsible for the conformity of the product with the relevant legislation and for the affixing of the CE marking. By affixing the CE marking on a product, a manufacturer is declaring - on his sole responsibility - the conformity with all of the legal requirements.

Navco private label

As Navco International also places products on the market under our own name or trademark (e.g. our In Touch Wireless Phone Charger), we take over the manufacturer’s responsibilities. This includes the full responsibility for the conformity of the product. This means in fact that Navco will collect all technical and sufficient documentation and test reports of the product, before we offer it to the market. All our E-mark certificates, RED and RoHS test reports etcetera, are stored safely in an organized online database managed by a specialized third party.  And we also offer our customers a sharing service as we can allow them to view and download documents at any time in an easy approachable way.

CO-CREATION: YOUR OWN PRIVATE LABEL !

In case you choose to bring a new product on the market under your own private label, it means you also have to deal with CE. This includes a lot of time and cost consuming tasks such as comparing lab test quotations, contacts with several notified bodies, checking technical reports, etcetera. No worries: if you start your new project in co-creation with us, Navco will unburden you by taking care of all this ! We already know the way in “Compliance Land” and you can just focus on your customers and markets!

More about CE Marking
Finally, a little bit of history. The objectives of the first harmonisation directives focused on the elimination of barriers and on the free movement of goods in the single market. These objectives are now being complemented by a comprehensive policy geared to ensure that only safe and otherwise compliant products find their way on to the market.

In this way, all businesses benefit from an honest level playing field, thus promoting at the same time an effective protection of EU consumers and professional users and also: a competitive single EU market.
