Commercial vehicles & Adas

THE USE OF THE COMERCIAL VEHICLE
DETERMINES THE CHOICE OF ADAS

Additional Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are often found in passenger cars and are slated to become mandatory in Europe from 2022 onwards. But did you know they are also available for use in LCVs (Light Commercial Vehicles / Vans)?

ADAS help drivers stay safe and drive more efficiently

Professional truck drivers have a demanding job. Not only are they driving a fully loaded truck for the better part of the day but they must do so quickly and efficiently while navigating traffic in a manner that safeguards both themselves and their cargo.

Find out what ADAS systems are ideal for use in transport vehicles and what factors are decisive in making an informed selection.

WHAT IS THE ADDED VALUE OF ADAS FOR LCV’S OR VANS?

Does the number of vehicles affect the choice in ADAS?
If a company has only a small number of vans there is often a greater emphasis being placed on comfort-enhancing ADAS such as adaptive cruise control, navigation, a lane assistant, traffic sign recognition and fatigue recognition.

Statistics show that with a larger number of vans damage prevention systems such as an emergency stop system, distance alert, blind spot warning and parking assistance are more frequently opted for.

How do the distances driven per day affect the choice in ADAS?
Depending on the distances driven per day different choices in ADAS are made. On vehicles that frequently drive distances greater than 150 km per day a greater emphasis is placed on safety-enhancing systems such as cruise control, live navigation, emergency stop systems and fatigue recognition.

Whereas vehicles that make shorter trips more frequently opt for comfort-enhancing driver assistance systems.
